4th Generation few questions about parts!

ok i went to a toyota shop and had my giurlfriends car looked at,. they listed off some problems. two of which are now a concern for me. first off the "idle speed control motor", i went to kragen a known parts store here on the west coast and to my suprise they told me that part doesnt exist. they also said it could be the "air speed control motor". is this the same thing? second: there is a valve cover gasket leak and the distributor cap has that plug that begins to leak oil after a while also. they told me that the distributor cap oil plug doesnt exist. has no idea what i am talking about. not for that car. its a 1997 camry with the 5sfe. i know both parts exist. the toyota shop did a print out that we showed to the parts store and they said that the shop was wrong. am i using the wrong names for these parts or what?

I think the Idle Speed Control Motor and Air Speed Control Motor are the same part. It should be a stepper motor controlling idle speed. If it needs to be replaced you could remove it and take it to Kragen for comparison. The distributor cap oil plug is probably the distributor shaft o-ring. The leak could be from that o-ring or from the valve cover in that area where RTV sealant is supposed to be applied at the sharp corners of the valve cover gasket.

A problem IAC valve usually results in idle or starting problems, do you have any of these issues? The valve can also be cleaning and sometimes this solves idle issues. A TN search will turn up a thread with detailed procedures on how to do this.

The distributor has an oil seal on the shaft and a housing O-ring.
