Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i tried to do some DIY tinting on a small bathroom window in my house ... it works great, but it was a really sloppy job around the edges
so i was thinking if i could figure out how to do a cleaner cut, i could re-tint my Camry ... i had to remove the passenger-side tint because it was peeling so bad, and now my driver side and the right-rear are peeling too...
just looking for some tips/how-to's to get a crisp cut around the edges and how to apply it evenly without bubbles/loose edges or whatever

well make sure u have the right tools first, u need the cleaning spray, water(or a special adhesian promoter spray), a VERY sharp razor, a very clean and smooth surface to cut on, a rubber spackle and calk spreader(different sized recomended and patiance. personally i wouldnt do it my self, its a relativly inexpensive mod and a perfessional ass all the tools and knowhow to make it perfect, PLUS its usually has some sort of warranty. ull only save about 60 bucks doing it ur self, but it can be done.
as for application i strongly advize using somthign to make a template out of that way ur not trying to cut the stuff while trying to get it to stay up on the window.
The Side windows would be a piece of cake to tint...the rear window, thats tough as hell,..been there.....U can buy pre-cut tint on ebay...google it!......To do a good tinting job tho does take lots of practice....Ended up cheaper for me to hire it done (Bday present from the wife last yr)

hey if i tint my coupe could i help out the shop by removing my left and right door glass from the door and make it easier for them to apply
i can easily do that i just wondered if it was benifitial
Removing the door panels might be something to think about. I removed mine for a retint on my Paseo, just to make sure that the tinter got way below the seal, and that it was ultra clean so there are no worries about the bottom edge peeling up.

yes...the back window is hard as fuck, the roll doesn't cover the sides of the 3rd brake light

most good shops never even touch the door pannels. they simple slip the tint under the rubber weather stripping on the top of the door pannel and then work from there. removing them would be a waste of time unless the person doing the tint is a rookie and thinks it will help...at least on the camry.
I removed mine for the above reasons, but I also stripped the sides myself, so I wanted to make sure there was no old adhesive, Windex, dirt, or whatever.
