3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Im afraid my camry will be gone soon. It was my dads car before me, and we've spent too much money fixing things and keeping it alive. Lately my dad has been talking about getting a car with less problems and the next problem it has the car is junk. So yesterday my handbreak light was on, i found out its leaking brake fluid, i guess that just did it for my dad so he wants it gone... I dont work, and my parents pay for everything so i guess hes had it with the car. I love it to death, and im pretty sure he has an auto honda in mind for me :\. I love my car and thought i'd let you guys know.

damn man, sorry to hear. hope u can talk him into a manual honda instead...just tell him it gets better gas milage. how many miles are on that thing anyways?
ohh that sucks but yea whatever car you get make sure it's a manual considering that you coming from a manual car and even worse a v6 manual car so unless it's a new honda no power for you (torque is out of the question lol).

Sorry to hear about your car. My sister just got an '07 Accord (auto) it's an ok car. The Civics are ugly as hell..may try to get your dad to get a used Camry Gen 5? or a Matrix? atleast you could stay with Toyota..
I perosnally hate Honda and disowned my sister for a few weeks since she bought one
But yea, do what dad says. he's the bossman.
EDIT: For the Honda there's only 1-2mpg difference between the 4 and the 6. So if you do go the Accord route you have that option. But if it's a Civic you're out of luck for the 6
Well if you really like your camry just get another one with lower mileage.... Maybe you can get your hands on a coupe.

Yea maybe i can find a 3.5 coupe, but im sure hes got the whole economy car thing going...
Dude you have got to beg like crazy to make sure you don't get stuck with an automatic especially with a car with alot less power than that camry of yours. You gonna hate driving that thing, you gonna feel depressed and... maybe that's a lil too far lol but you get the point, downgrading sucks ass no matter.

Im sure id get depressed driving an auto, what teh hell do you guys do in your car?
check the autotrader!!! go around to dealers, i know the dealer in my area (hour from where you are) has 3 Gen 5's forsale i don't know if they're auto or stick though. but do the research for your dad, and if you find a good car. and you've gathered all the info it'll make it a lot less stressful for him, and you might actually get what you want.

well if you like your current model. search one that's for sale. called the guy ask questions like, has it been in an accident? any major problems? etc. just quiz the guy and write it all down. see if he/she is willing to negotiate a price. then go to your dad with all the info, lay it out in front of him and try and sell him the idea
can you tell i've done this more than once? lol even though the last two cars i've got i paid for, my dad still wanted to make sure i was getting a good deal and car, which i'm glad he did.
