318 miles for half tank? what was the average speed?
That was a day trip from Gallup to Albuquerque and back, almost all highway but that does include a little bit of running around in the city as well.

Aside from the bit of city (maybe 8-10 miles total), average speed on the i-40 probably just under 70mph. Slower on the uphill grades, faster on the downs, and on level ground she generally seems happiest just a tick under 70 (~68?).

I should mention this is at relatively high altitude (avg ~6000') which helps a bit, and she's a 5-speed.

2000 Camry 4 cyl. - Half Million Mark

My 2000 Camry flipped 500,000 miles.

Almost time for a new waterpump and timing belt plus the power steering is making some noise.

Original engine and transmission.

Its been a great car but I have to be honest and say I'm ready for something else. Maybe a newer Camry or Prius.

Time will tell.

Zanenc, you were already on the list, but at only 333k miles. Must've been a while ago?

I updated the list in the first post of this thread. If I missed anyone's update, just shoot me a PM.

It would be better if you require some evidence of the mileage. A picture of the odometer with a signature, or a service record etc. Otherwise, anyone can say whatever mileage they want to. It is more fun to look at as well.

Will be rolling mine over to 425,000 miles this week...I posted a photo at 400,000. 2000 V6 Solara

Original engine/transmission/radiator/pwr steering/AC compressor/radiator/exhaust system/fuel filters/wheel bearings/original and un-turned rotors/starter/coils/cooling fans

Replaced alternator, outer tie rods, drive shaft/CV joints, struts/cam cover gaskets/cam seals/front crank seal/PCV/thermostat/water pump/headlight assemblies/and rear bumper cover after a parking lot mishap/one windshield/and I think the original owner replaced the AC condenser after a rock incident, one or two windshields and one or more O2 sensors during the 118,000 miles he owned the car.

I change the oil and filter every 5,000 mi with PZ 10W-30, air filter every 20,000 mi, timing belt and plugs every 100,000 miles, drain refill the radiator every two or three years, and have changed the transmission fluid twice. The CEL has been on for years but gas mileage is just over 25MPG and it runs good....suspect the last sensor (bank 2?) is toast and haven't a clue why the other sensor (bank 1?) is apparently still doing its job. I run the cheapest regular unleaded fuel I can find and no longer mess with injector cleaner additives.

Issues: minor oil leak from rear crank seal, very minor oil seepage returning around replaced cam cover seals, burns or leaks 1-2 qts of oil in 5,000 miles, lots of Toyota slow speed suspension clunks, aforementioned check engine light, burned out "D" light in console, radio volume knob quirky,

I also think odometer photos are cool if you have them but it's a piece of cake to Photoshop a photo so honesty and integrity must rule in the end.

Rolled over to 147kmiles last night, on my 1999 5SFE/auto. I bought it at the end of Oct with 139.6k on it, so about 7k in 3 month's time. I suspect 20-25k/year going forward, barring accident or major repairs.

Congrats on the miles! I think you are one of the few who did proper maintenance that spans discussions in many threads with varied opinions. Proof that a little care goes a long way. You forgot to mention PS fluid change, you might have done that once or twice.

Our camry is less than 160k miles, avalon less than 95k (bought at low miles but its catching up, daily driver). On the camry, did a suspension refresh only, rest is regular maintenance.

On avalon, few repairs were necessary after purchase. After that all good, except for the o2 sensors.

That's awesome but for the love of god man change the %$#*& fuel filter! Ha!

96 LE 404k miles and counting!

You know, I really thought I should change the filter and asked around some and heard they usually last the life of the car so I left it alone. Granted, they might not have intended to imply the life of the car would extend out this far

Have you ever replaced an original part as preventative maintenance and wished you had either left the original or bought a higher quality replacement part? I figured I should replace the thermostat since those are REALLY important and failure could lead to major damage so I went down to OReily and asked for such a thermostat before I started the job. It still hurts seeing the original thermostat go in the trash...hefty solid looking part...and replacing it with a flimsy new part that clearly wasn't made to the same standard. I would have gotten a Toyota replacement if I had known even Toyota's thermostat is so much heftier. On the other hand, maybe the lighter part helped my gas mileage

Surgeon, You know it's funny but I have never done anything to the power steering fluid. I thought it had a bad leak and was planning to address it a year or so back. Turns out the oil all over the pump was from front end oil seals and maybe left from the leaking cam cover gaskets I replaced several years back. The pwr steering fluid is clear and still at full level. Sure, it's due for a fluid change so I guess I should...understand it can be done with a turkey baster...but that chore seems to be in the same category as a bunch of other things in my life. The brake fluid is another fluid folks say should be drained and replaced now and then. It's also clear, original, and I don't recall ever adding any.

I still love driving the car and it still looks almost like new on the inside...but I keep an eye out for a replacement just in case the transmission bites the dust. I would like to try a different ride since I have spent so long in this one but I find myself looking for older model Camrys and Solaras since I have the timing belt replacement down pat and REALLY hate the thought of dealing with all the electronic garbage in the newer models. I don't want Onstar, push button start, backup cameras, digital displays, and who knows what else to deal with when I'm driving or troubleshooting and the price tags to pay for all that junk are horrendous!

It's cool to see the member list here with 50 cars with well over 300,000 miles. I propose Honda could have, and may have such a list, but surely no other auto brand can boast its cars REGULARLY go that many miles on the original parts. I subscribed to Consumer Reports magazine for a lot of years and some people argue their automobile reliability ratings are biased but I personally have enough faith in their ratings to believe Toyota and Honda have been leaders in reliability and longevity. I understand Toyota may be doing some cost cutting now...probably because they have to in order to keep up with the federal regs and crazy electronic gadgetry that is all the rage these days.

If you recall my efforts in replacing the instrument cluster on my 1992 Camry and located here:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...-2001/338662-what-did-you-do-your-3rd-4th-gen-camry-today-327.html#post10959673

Let's see! The 2nd Instrument Cluster "TODAY" reads at 149,077 and when I got it the reading was at 132,977 which means my Camry traveled 16,100 miles since the Cluster had been replaced.

The Original Cluster reading at: 486,015 miles so,

486,015
+ 16,100
----------------------
502,115 Miles

My Camry XLE is still kicking!

So, as far as the Mileage to the cherished1/2 Million Miles.........

It has made it and more!

I will celebrate soon!

That's AWESOME Guapoman!!!

Hey everybody, I may have botched up my spreadsheet, getting the engine column out of sync with each member. So if you're on the list, pls check and see that I've got the correct engine listed for your Camry. Let me know if it's wrong and I'll see if I can figure out which way I shifted it, up or down.

guapoman, congratulations on passing the half-million mile mark. So how should one celebrate that achievement?

I think you should wash and vacuum it and paint something like "500,000 Mile Club" on your back glass. If you want to rub it in, you could add "Surpassing Chevy quality for the past 400,000 miles"
