4th Generation AC stays ON...

Hey guys, i've got a weired problem, AC stays ON regardless of the AC-button position... Turning off the fan completely seems to turn the AC off as well, but that's something I still need to confirm. I have to admit that this was bugging me for about 3 years now, but usually by pressing AC-button a few times it would disengage eventually... not this time...

AC-relay?
Compressor clutch?
AC-button?

stay simple and fix your a/c button first...

if the relay is dead, it won't work- ever.

and if the clutch is dead....well...it usually won't work at all either.

a button can sometimes work and sometimes not if something is just loose inside though.

and for the record...having your a/c on all the time is better than never this summer.

yeah, my a/c doesnt turn on at all ... so youve got it made

why would u want the a/c off anyways? you can always adjust the temp with one of the knobs and adjust the fan speed ...

my a/c was on 100% of the time for 128k miles and 10 years before the compressor died...

[im at 134k miles and 12 years now]

and a/c doesnt really affect gas mileage enough to care ... thats the beauty of a camry, theyre terribly efficient

And terribly slow for that matter... Mine is a 4-banger...

Anyways, thanks for the input guys, the bloody thing is still on, but it was so hot and humid for the last 2 days - I don't mind... But up here it isn't always the case, we need AC only for the summer period and even then I don't use it more than needed... Gonna check it out this weekend...
