Gauge install

Ok I got my sandwhich adapter today and got all the gauges up and running...

My oil pressure PSI @ idle is around 10-15. Does that sound about right?

Oil temp is around 180

What all gauges did you install? Boost, oil pressure, and oil temperature? How long did it take?

Ok. Ready. Here we go.

Gauge installation wasn’t easy but it wasn’t super hard. Read the instructions and you will be fine.

The gauges I hooked up were boost/vacuum, Oil pressure and Oil Temp. Im still waiting for my wideband to get here which should be in another hour or two.

Basically for the install here’s what I did.
  • Each gauge has a + and – for lighting that’s a no brainer.
  • Installed the vacuum line according the install instructions
  • pulled off the oil filter and installed the sandwhich adapter
  • ran the temp sensor and oil pressure line from the adapter to the gauges
  • turned the car on.
  • I made a mistake by not tightening the adapter properly and had a very tiny leak but I fixed it. No big deal. Drove around and the car is fine.
Here is what I got from the readings:

Boost/Vacuum: Starts @ 0 PSI. On WOT it goes up to 20 PSI (few more days and its gonna start showing boost =P)

Oil temp: Goes up and stay around 180-190F

Oil Pressure: Starts @ 50-60 PSI drops to 10-15 PSI @ idle and goes up and down while driving.

Venom: those are pretty easy to install. They slip right over the needles. Remember the postion of your gas in case you move it!

Rabbit: im going to post those pics in the FS section now ; )

oil pressure sounds fine- what kind of oil are you running? My oil pressure runs a bit higher, but it's colder here for the most part. Once the oil is fully warm, then I show basically the same pressures. at WOT though, the pressure can get to around 80psi or so.

oil temp sounds fine as well. In hot weather or after hard runs, I can top out at 210F.

the only thing that I can say that isn't right is your vacuum pressure- are you sure that you didn't get the backwards? At idle, it should be at 20 and then at WOT, it should be at 0 vacuum. After that, it hits boost.

My suggestion after this would be to get yourself a tranny oil temp gauge as that is what you will have to worry about from here on in...

^ x2 to the tranny temp gauge ... i know a few guys that have to watch their tranny temps like crazy - and they even have aftermarket tranny coolers

and thanks for the info about the gauges

I know with my vac gauge, it reads about 15 psi at light throttle and 0 at WOT. The lighter you place your foot on the gas, the high psi reading. That's how it is supposed to be.

What vacuum line did you tap into?

somethin's definitely weird with ur vac pressure ...

20psi at WOT and 0psi at idle is backwards like King said - unless you tapped into the wrong side of the system? idk if thats possible, but somethin has gone funky

hey man....I sent you the pics (only two since it's pretty simple) through PM- you didn't get it? I'll try it again...

and like venom is saying, I think that you may have installed your vacuum line on to a wrong port or something.....the only time that vacuum would be 0 at idle and vacuum is gained when on the throttle is running a hose pre-throttlebody (I think....)

nothing in the PM box =( I'll PM you my email.

I spoke to toys, i forget why but it wont work if you split the line at the throttle body you have to get it from the intake manifold side.

i'll try that tomorrow and see how that goes.

did you get my pm with the picture links?

and lol...yeah...that would your problem right there. You can either take it from the intake manifold or even off the fuel vacuum lines.

When I hooked them up the gauge still read 0 and if I rev nothing happens...

any ideas?

I should have took some pictures of where i tapped. bah. Ill try again tomorrow. I cant really get to the car ATM.
