V6 CAI Extension Piece?

I know at least one person on here has turned there SRI into a CAI on the Gen3 V6. My question is, what does the piece I need to buy look like? And it's 3" diameter isn't it? My buddy has some old piping but it's only 2.5" for a Civic. Would that work alright to go from smaller to larger piping?

the size isnt gonna make a whole lot of difference on such a low-hp engine ... youre not gaining or losing much with a CAI/SRI...

definitely not gaining hp

but if you are hell bent on going CAI, i would try to stick with 3" ... you can use anything from mandrel-bent metal to flexible metal piping to PVC

i would go with 3". there are more filters avalible that match up to 3" and the hole to the fender is perfect size for a 3" pipe.

I have 2.5" Piping, You can put 3" piping but you will have a harder time trying putting it inside the fender.

it actually works quite well, and you can always paint it with some Duplicolor High Heat

Make sure you get some thats tough. That shit i had blew apart while i was on the highway lol. nothing happened, car was running fine, i poped the hood to work on the car the next day and i saw it busted open.

in fact...I don't think that 3" piping would be able to snake into your fender.


My custom ELPrototypes cai is mostly 3", but it's 2.5" for part of the lower parts so that it would fit into the fender (and under the fuse box)

Online. It's EPDM. I've got atleast 20' of it in the basement. It makes for great flexible couplers on a turbo.
Holds 60psi, easily holds 250*F & very tough stuff. unlike flexible PVC hose.
