You could have any of several issues, so pinning down exactly where the noise is coming from is important. You can (cautiously avoiding moving belts/etc) place a broomstick on places you suspect and put the other end to your ear to see where the noise is the loudest. There could be something under the timing cover like the water pump or an idler pulley going bad, could be the alternator/bearings and ditto for the AC compressor, a belt too loose/tight, etc, so seeing exactly where it is coming from will help you a lot.
