Do I have an O2 sensor?

hello,

My catalytic converter on my '95 V6 camry - non california emissions type - is in need of replacement. I called a local shop that was recommended to me and they said that I could just get rid of the cat converter all together and replace it with a straight pipe for $55 or replace the cat with a resonator for $110. This is in Canada so we can get away with some less restrictive emission requirements. The guy I talked to said that the only way I could completely eliminate the cat converter is if I don't have an O2 sensor by my cat converter. So...does a '95 camry V6 have a cat converter O2 sensor?

dont delete your cat ... and you already have a resonator after your cat

if anything, get a hi-flow cat and 2.5" piping

you have a post-cat 02 sensor

if you straight pipe it, you'll both get a CEL and fail emissions

though if you have your way of getting around emissions testing, you can pick up an 02 simulator that will send a fake signal back to your ecu

Tell him how much to replace for the cat only. You don't need a new resonator.

What advantage would there be to that? Doesn't the post O2 send the signal as to how lean / rich it's running?

the advantage would be that you won't have to have a cat

that's what the o2 simulator is for, it just sends a fake signal saying it's a OK.

I understand that, but the O2 sensor must do something...so if I have one that is always sending an "OK" signal what am I missing out on?

Edit: never mind this question. I did some googling and I found out that the O2 sensor before the cat is used for the fuel/air mixture and the one after the cat is used only to tell if the cat has gone bad. Since I only have the one after the cat, an O2 simulator seems like it would work for me.

Is it usually considered a good idea to check your sensors when you change your cat? How can you check the O2 sensors to make sure they are good?

I have decided that I will be installing a cat...my friend has done a few himself so he's gonna weld it up for me and I can buy a generic cat for $100 or a direct fit for the toyota for $160. I was thinking of going with the generic one and just getting any pipe adaptors that I need. Is the exhaust size 2 3/8" outside diameter?
