Optima Battery Question for Gen4

Hey guys,


Its about time to replace my battery. First of all, I can't decide whether to get a yellow top, or a red top. I'm running a pretty big system in my car, and I heard that the red top would be better for my car. Do you guys know which model of the red or yellow top will fit the Camry? Thanks guys!

u can use the side posts or the posts on top...so it should work but i have it and i need to extend my cables somehow

Not necessarily. The yellow-top model is better suited to being deep discharged, so if you use your audio system for extended periods of time *with the car turned off* then it would be the better choice. But if you just use your audio system while driving then the alternator will keep the battery charged and you'd be better off with the increased starting power of the red-top models.

[If your audio system is drawing so much power that the battery is being significantly discharged even while the car is running then you need a higher capacity alternator.]

yellowtop also has a reserve, not sure about the red, i guess it should too

red top is for startups, yellow top is for running electronics with the car off

they both also serve normal all-purpose functions
