Tire Help

Ok it's time for some new tires but with a few restraints. I have about 400 bucks to work with for some new tires and I have 2 big options.
1. Buy 3 michelin tires since I already have 1 almost new one from costco and then I dont have to worry about installation costs in the budget
2. Order 4 new any type of tires for the same price range but then I also have to consider installation a bit.

I am from cali and so the only type of weather I have to worry about is dry weather and rain during the winter, I dont think this car will go to the snow. So I would like the best performance from these tires for this price range and I am pretty much open to any recommendations. Btw this is for the stock xle rims as seen in my sig. (No new rims since I wont even get to drive the car much for the next year)

Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS's or Sumitomo HTR [i have the HTR H4, but the HTR200 might be better for you]

toyos are as good as bridgestone RE960AS poleposition. I'd pick toyos or yokohamas.

actually depending on how u drive...the costco michelins are decent...dunno which one u spec got, but i find it somewhat wasteful to get rid of an almost brand new tire, especially if it isnt shitty.

Just make sure you don't buy all-season tires no matter what not even performance all-season's. Get performance summer tires or at least summer tires for better performance. All-seasons are like worst performer for both summertime and wintertime driving. You don't even drive in the snow so really forget about all-seasons.

^ not always true

some of the high-perf. all-seasons have great tread life and good ratings all around

i'm actually going to agree with felony on his statement. Summer tires give the impression to individuals that they cannot be driven in the rain, when in many cases they can, and will perform better than all seasons due to their softer/stickier rubber compounds. Although it is true that in heavy rain situations, all season tires will evacuate more water per minute than most summer tires especially when the summer tires get below 50% of their tread, summer tires are a heck of a lot more fun to drive with. So unless you see more rain during the year than sun, i'd go with a nice summer tire.

Just a little deviation from what i mentioned above. All seasons do tend to have better treadwear ratings than summer because they are lower performance tires overall, so if you do long commuting trips and not much spirited driving, go with all seasons instead.
And never driving summer tires in the snow...that's dangerous and often you'll get no where or wont be able to slow down at all.

Wow I am learning a ton from this topic, I don't do much commuting and even if I commute home from school it's only an hour and a half drive and then most of my driving will be going around which can be spirited easily so I think summer tires are a good choice.

I tried searching on tire rack for summer tires an all it could come up with is sumitomo HTR 200's. Am I setting the paramaters incorrectly or something
