or was i the only one? it ended up taking an hour to replace. i just could not get the new mast (purchased from pep boys) to be grabbed by the motor. i ended up taking the motor partially apart and manually start the feeding.

Same thing happened to me! I too had to take the motor apart, and the sucker jammed again about a month later. I fixed it again, for about another month ..then said fuck it, and bought one from Antennax.com ,nonpower....then Damon sold me his S2000 set up when he parted out his Gen 3, and I've been please as a pig in slop since!!

why is everyone having to replace thier antennas? I did the first maintenence on mine ever (I think, I'm the second owner) this last weekend, just spray it down with WD40 and wipe clean. I'm going to put some teflon on it later. I've got this really good stuff that dries to a super thin waxy layer that doesn't attract dirt like grease or any oil based lubes. Would that mess up the reception or is there like a wire inside the antenna that actually does the recieving? Anyway, mine's a 96 and it still works like a charm *knock on wood*
Mine was broken when I bought the car!...Ur right tho, routine maintance doesn't prevent them from becoming a problem!......I still rather have my S2000 antenna!

Yep, if your antenna is working do maintenance on it to keep it working.
With a paper towel right behind it, spray the entire shaft with WD-40, go back and give a squirt at each joint. Wipe it all down with a clean paper towel. Retract the antenna, extend it. Wipe it down again, keep repeating the retracting / extending / wiping until it's completely clean.
The antenna on my '95 LE has one stuck joint from the previous owner (I just got the car a few months ago), all others are fine now - I can live with one stuck joint.
wouldnt you know it, i came close to breaking my new mast. i was driving slowly down a VERY narrow alley with trees and bushes on my passenger side while i jamming to the radio. i pass under some tree branches that scrape the roof of my car and ponder how taller vehicles get through. then i remember my antenna mast is up and i jam my brakes. luckily i stopped just before the branches made contact. crisis avoided!
Mine broke on the '92 when it got covered in ice and then tried to retract. Installed a switch in the trunk to kill the motor and keep it part way up in the winter.
