3rd Generation Troubleshooting Trouble Code 12

I have a 1995 Camry 5S-FE, I am trying to troubleshoot a problem that I am having with it and I am coming up empty. The original problem is that I am not getting any spark or combustion when I try and start my car. The engine cranks but does not start. When I check the trouble code I get TC 12. I have followed all of the steps in the manual to try and fix this problem. First I check the resistance on the NE and G terminals of the distributor. Those checked out, next I check the the terminals on the sensor and ECM end and I get continuity between them and I do not notice any obvious problems (ie loose or broken wires). The next step is to check the air gap inside the distributor, I recently replaced the distributor (and the high tension wires, and the spark plugs). So the next step was to replace the ECM, I bought a used one from a juknyard, they told me it was in working condition. I put the new ECM in and I still recieve TC 12.

Does anyone have any suggestion on something else to try? I am about at my ends and thinking I might just send it into the shop, but I would love to get it running without using that option.

Any help/thoughts are greatly appreciated.

The ECU isn't seeing the engine turning over so it's not delivering spark.

Did you replace the dist before or after this problem?
Where did it come from?
Are you sure it's for your year/model engine?

How do the connectors look?

I replaced the dist after the problem. It was the first thing I thought of and had some expendable cash and thought it was the "perfect fix". I bought it online from 1AA parts, I am postive it is for my make/model/year/engine type.

Do you mean you want a description or the condition. The connectors look like they are in good conditon to me, but what do I know? I don't notice any loose connections or wires that look bad. Hope this info helps. I am at a complete loss.

Now you know how I feel about it. there is rotation. I am completely dumfounded. Cause the TC means either:

No NE signal to ECM within 2 sec or more after cranking

No NE or G1 and G2 signal to ECM for 2 sec or more after cranking

Open in G(-) circuit.

So to me it seems like it would be a problem with my connection between the dist and the ecm. but like i said before I checked and have continuity between the connectors on both ends.

So i am still dumbfounded

Someplace in the vicinity of the distributor, there should be a white wire with a red stripe.
With the ignition switch in the run position .... not start, just run, can you say that the W-R wire is hot ... it has 12 volts? Do you have a voltmeter or test light. Just scrape a little piece of insulation off if you don't see a bare terminal connection, and stick the + meter lead on the wire, and place the - meter lead on a clean, oil-free, paint-free piece of chassis or engine block. Be sure the meter is set to read volts .... maybe the 20 volt scale.
... The reason I ask this question is because there is a 10 amp start fuse that may have blown, and is the problem.
What do you think?
