4th Generation Here We Go Another Brake Converion Q....

From all the threads I have read I believe I can use a Gen 4 v6, a ES300 97-01, and a avalon 97-01. I believe I can use the gen 3 v6 rear brakes to do the conversion but I just want to confirm before I start. Apperantly a gen 4 v6 camry is like trying to find wheres Waldo....Suggestions welcome!!!

What exactly are you doing? Front or rear or both?

I assume you have a 4 cyl. and you want V6 brakes?

Give me details. I can provide some info.

Heres the low down, I have a 4 cyl cam with drums in the back. I am going to upgrade from a drum to a disk then a disk to a bbk. I have a kport bbk up front and now im tryin to finish the rear. Ive been in touch with ksport but its a lil bit out of there world to know if a gen 3 v6 rear disk brakes (more importantly backing plate) will fit a gen 4 rear (4cyl). Ive searched everywhere in junk yards around VA and even on the internet and still have come up with nothing. Apperantly the backing place is extremely hard to get in good condition or to just buy seperate.

So does a gen 3 rear disk brake fit a gen 4?

Im hoping this will not turn into a "why would you spend money on a rear bbk" thread

Well, converting drum to disc is something I have not ever done.

I would assume that the parts would be interchangeable though.

Have you tried researching service manuals? Going to the dealership to have them print out diagrams? At least then you could find out what parts are different and needed for the conversion.

I'm sure someone here or on SG has done the conversion.

the v6 Camry is interchangeable with a gen 4 meaning a 4.5 to a 4. I don't now about the Es or the avalon but I have an abundance of gen 4 V6's at the yards I go to get my parts from.
