4th Generation Brake Squeaking

The brake in my 1999 V6 Camry is making a squeaking noise when applied lightly...but the sound dies if the brakes are hit harder. What might be the cause and remedy?
Thanks

the pads or rotors are probably warn unevenly. check and replace, or grind evenly if real bad but if they still have stopping power then u could just live with it.

Thanks Big Bird. How much would it cost me to do the brake pads? I was thinking of going to PEPBOYS.

There are lots of things that can make a brake squeel. Pads that needs to be replaced, pads that needs to be seated properly, dusts from the pads etc.

I paid 120 bucks for my brake change. Unfortunately, I went to a shop with the bad hispanics so i found out a month later that my brakes were squealing. And they changed my radio station to their dam mariachi music. I don't really hate it, i just don't care for it. I hate it when my mechanics change my radio.

If that's not the case then go and buy a spray for cleaning the rotors

but most of the time when the brakes are squeeling then its time for new pads

I guess i was off topic and i apologize greatly but seriously, you should consider going to a well known mechanics place like midas or sumthing. They were more expensive by 15 bucks but they probably would have done a better job.
