If you do not cover anything while you spray down your engine, there is a chance that some components will get wet and cause a slight malfunction. However, if you allow the vehicle to dry for 2-3 hours after you wash, then there should be no problem.

It is actually not a big deal to cover the alternator, fuse boxes, battery, and distributor cap. A few minutes of work will save you time and worry.

Just follow venom_5's DYI pictures. It's as simple as that.

^ haha, yeah. I pushed it quickly to like 3.5k RPM's. Drove it 2 hours later and was fine.

Only 2 things I;d say to cover for sure are the Dist car (5SFE/3VZ-FE engine), and the alternator (All Engines). And as Louie said, wait a couple hours if you can before driving.

^ ive left stuff on anywhere from 5-20 mins depending on how thick the dirt/grease is ... if it doesnt come off the first time, you can always do it again

Done and my engine bay looks so pimp Minus some bolts and things with rust I'm going to paint next week. Looks almost brand new. Oh, and I went over my hoses with armor all after it was all dry. Just a light coat, is that alright?
