4th Generation Speedometer/Instrument Cluster Questions

Well today I attempted to install my reverse glow gauges and everything went fine until when i began to put it back together. I accidentally bumped the back of my cluster against the dash and knocked out a little piece of metal off of what I believe to be a small piece of metal right behind the speedo. Now the guages light up fine but my speedometer doesnt measure speed at all when I move. If I move the needle manually it moves freely but when I let go it drops at a slower pace than if I did it with my tach which works fine. So I think this has something to do with it's motor because it also will continue dropping clockwise instead of back to 0 if I move it to 130 or higher.

So my question is 1. Is there any possible way that I could fix this, I tried gluing the metal piece back around where I believe it came off because there was a little circlular residue of what seams to be glue. But that had no effect whatsoever.

2. If I bought a replacement gauge does the type or engine have anything to do with the instrument cluster? And would it affect my car at all if I got one that didnt have the theft option when my car does (other than not having the blinking light by the "Security". So basically would it cause any issues with my alarm system.

pics: it is the metal piece right by the 3 screws below the little white piece of plastic. I put it by what I believe it came off of

That metal piece might possibly be a part called a capacitor. If you take a magnifier of some sort, can you see what might be a broken wire end .... Take a look on both ends. .... Probably should be two wires originally. If you can read anything on the metal part, what does it say? .... Glue won't help here. You might be able to get a new one and solder it on .... not any major project.

I dont see any wires or writing on it at all and upon closer look it looks like something that clips into something but I cant find anywhere for it to go.

here are some more pics and some drawings since I cant zoom that closely with my camera. It seems like both sides are to have push in type clips to clip onto something but one side seems to be broken and the clip msising (I drew in red where it looks like the other clip should be). And also in my last drawing you can see that it is kinda bent out on the open side, I dont know how this happened or if it was intended to happen this way.

the grey part is the inside view of the rest of the piece just so it doesnt look like some 2 seperate pieces of metal it actually wraps around together.

But I have been able to find some speedo clusters for 30 bucks used and I wouldnt really mind just buying those and moving over my odometer (I believe this is possible correct?). But I would like clarification of whether the engine type or theft option would cause any problems

I'm not familiar with this particular part ... it doesn't see to be a capacitor.
.... Probably go with the new board to get everything working again.
Difference in engine type or theft deterrent is not obvious. I would probably just try new board and hope for the best.
.... The combination meter wiring diagram is not specifically different for 5s-fe or 1mz-fe. I don't see any obvious reference here to theft deterrent. The combination meter is the part that includes most, if not all, of the instrument type gauges.

ok thanks I just wanted to check because I dont mind not seeing the blinking light as I wouldnt see it through my reverse gauges anyway but I dont want it setting off my alarm lol. And for 30 bucks vs 100 its a great deal.
