Rear brake shoes replacement...

Hey guys, I have a 1995 Camry LE I4 and I’m absolutely stumped on how to replace these rear brake shoes. I with I had some pics to post, but I don't so I’ll try and be a descriptive as possible. I've got the drum off the car along with both shoes. Now, I’m trying to get the actual parking break lever off the rear shoe. It has 1 clip on top that holds the auto adjusting lever, which I have taken off np.

Now....

I got the 2nd clip that holds down parking brake lever, and I’ve also gotten the lever itself off. Now.... The little piece that it sits on is like pressed into the shoe itself. How do I get that piece out of the shoe??

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm now in day 2 and hour 7 of this brake job.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. If you are talking about the pivot pin, maybe its end has mushroomed a little and you have to drive it out with a punch?

Do you mean where the parking brake lever is held on to the rear shoe by the "c-washer"?

Those c-washers are a one use item. You need to use a screw driver to separate the two arms to pull the pin out. You need new c-washers so that you can squeeze the arms together that hold the brake lever to the shoe. I have never needed to a hammer to remove this after the c-washer has been removed.

that's right, i guess i just assumed that he'd already taken the c-washer out.

oreillys has a complete brake hardware kit for 8 bucks. all new springs c-washers ,circlips, pivot pins ,cups etc.

The center pins on my older shoes were terribly rusted which is why i decided to do the entire set anyway.

Getting the springs on and off was a big b****.and the one time tool was like 15 bucks.Fortunately I found this hand tool called a scratch-awl(3$) which worked perfect for those tight little spaces.
