3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The first picture was the Megans fresh out of the box... it slammed the rear and barely dropped the front..
This weekend I cut off a coil... making it 2 coils in total. Since it's a progressive coil, it's still a decent ride and my suspension doesn't completely lose travel. My calculated spring rate progression now is about 300-500 lbs/in (500 being when the top coil gets close to bottoming)
Its obviously stiffer then stock, but definetly not uncomfortable.
Honestly the bottom 2 coils were so wide that they sagged anyways. After driving for a week... when I removed the springs un altered.. it showed signs of the bottom coil completely bottomed out meaning it did nothing.
The only issue I have now is that FINALLY it looks the way I want it to. but I can't go up my driveway anymore...... ahahahah... but this is the look I wanted though.. so I guess I can't have everything.
Heres the benefits...
I was looking at K Sports... $1500 CDN off ebay (including shipping, tein SS are around the same price without top mounts)
Tokiko shocks $450CDN
Megan Springs $150CDN
Total $600 CDN
I ended up saving $900. and my worst case scenario is that I blow my shocks. (tokiko sells their shocks in pairs) so even if I have to replace all 4 (by the feel of the ride I think it's unlikely) I'm still saving.
If I blow a coilover.. I would have to get a whole new set...
I've very happy with the results... I don't think I'll EVER put 5 people in my car, but it honestly is pretty decent ride quality.
