3rd Generation JDM / replacment 5S-FE Motor Dealers?

I am looking for a replacment 5S-FE motor for my camry and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on reputable places that sell low milage 5S-FE engines and transmissions. I live around Atlanta, GA and would love to find somewhere close by but I am realisticly taking all suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You might want to check on eBay, I saw a couple of 1MZ-FE's on there the other day.

Back in February I put a JDM 5S-FE in my '95 Camry. I got it off Ebay from JDM Engine Depot for $900 shipped with 50K miles on it. To this day it works better than my old motor ever did!

FYI, there is no "JDM" 5S-FE. the japanese market never used the 5S-FE. If you buy one, you're likely getting the weaker 3S-FE with 2.0l discplacement instead of 2.2l.
Finding a 5S-FE shortblock seems much easier said than done. Topline currently (and has for a while) been having trouble finding cores to rebuild, so as a result, most stores that work with topline are having difficulty selling shortblocks.

You also can not buy a Jasper 5S-FE shortblock (they don't make them), they only make longblocks.

I ended up buying my shortblock through city motor supply in texas, their site is citymotorsupply.com

good luck.

Not quite sure where you're getting your inforation but.. I used to work at an engine dealer and we could get a 2.2L JDM import but we usually didn't (and didn't inform the customer) because it was considerably more expensive than the 2.0L. We dealt with http://www.soko.com/ and they were good guys that took good care of their customers. Highly recommended.

I bought a JDM 5SFE 2.2L for my son's '96 Camry from JDM Engine Depot in NJ off ebay last year after the original engine bent a rod at 110,000 miles, the price was reasonable, shipping from NJ to Louisiana was only about $200 (delivered to my work location with a loading dock). Lots of parts had to be changed out from the old engine, partly because of the 1 year only '96 model issues (crank sensor, oil pump, distributor), but alsoex emmisions isues, (EGR, exhaust manafold, etc). The JDM engine was very clean, runs great, but obviously cut out of its original vehicle, placed on a pallet and stretch wrapped and held down with metal binding straps. Expect a good block and anything else something extra thrown in, in my case I ended up with lots of junk parts (JDM exhaust, used oil pump, distributor, etc.), but also with some spare parts (alternator, PS Pump, AC compressor (lines pinched off and taped), etc.) the metal strapping had cut the wiring harness and one of the spark plug wires.

Ike

p.s. JDM Engine Depot had a deal where they would include a automatic transmission for an extra $300 with sale of 5SFE (I went ahead and bought one too, just in case) it came still attached to the engine
