Auto / Manual Trannys Gen4

Yo guys,

So first off, Anyone know of any camry or toyota meets in like los angeles orange county area? I feel like im the only one with a non-stock camry in orange county lol.

But to the real question:

What is the low-down on manual transmissions for the 1mz?? Are they out there? I work at Newport Lexus and I drove an ES300 with my 1mz and a manual tranny, but its the only one ive ever seen/heard of. Anyone got any clue? If they make a manual tranny for the 1mz, im on it, unless its a crappy tranny of course...LET ME KNOW!!!!

-eric

btw: the woman with the manual es300 was like 80 and absolutely hillarious and we talked about her car for like half hour hahaha

ya I just can't find the transmission alone. I am assuming I'm going to have to hit the local junkyards for a while or something.

Are you sure the Lexus was a 1mz and not a 3vz??? As far as I know the m/t option was discontinued 94 and up when the 1mz was introduced for the ES 300.

I have a 1999 Camry 1MZ-FE V6 5 spd. I have heard that they made about 4500 V6/5 spd Gen 4 Camry's. They are there. The Solara V6 uses the same trans that the V6 camry would. I recently bought a manual trans from a solara, so that I could build it and then swap it into my car. It will be a while, but when it's done, I'll be selling my manual trans.
