3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 96 4dr V6LE. I have a few questions about it, some major some minor. Lets see here...
A) When Im driving anywhere around 60 or above, my car will what i call "jump around" on me, the steering feels very loose, and it will jump around on me. I guess what im trying to say the steering will tighten and loosen on its own almost, just random times, its hard to predict and does it unexpectadly...any ideas?
B) I have aftermarket OEM style headlights, after a wreck I got in, and its seems impossible to aim them correctly! the passenger side is ALWAYS dimmer then the driver side! and also, anyone got a white hood for for sale? mines still a little bent...just a tad.
C) I know this is stupid, and im about to go search for it amongst the topics, but can anyone provide me a quick link on hand to a "debadging How-To"?
for B - your headlight screws may be alil stripped ... i know mine are and my left always points higher than my right ... also my right headlight is a lil fogged so its dimmer as well - you can clean them with Meguiars PlastX if yours is turning yellow
for C - heat them with a hair dryer a lil bit ... then put some fishing wire behind them and pop them off ... the "C A M R Y" and the Toyota symbol are often pegged - but it differs from vehicle to vehicle ... if you want to replace them, use 3M double-sided tape

Awesome! about how long should I hold the hair dryer there?
and I wont be removing the C A M R Y, just the toyota emblem, "TOYOTA" and "V6 LE" , is there anyway to tell if the C A M R Y are pegged prior to taking them off and looking?
you would have to take the whole center panel off and look at the back ... im pretty sure the "C A M R Y" is always pegged
i think the toyota symbol/sombrero-lookin thing is always pegged as well
i removed my "LE" and my "TOYOTA" with no trouble ... just use the hair dryer for like a minute or less, just to heat it up enough to get the juices flowing
you shouldnt have to force them off

awesome, I appreciate it man, ill post pictures when I get the V6 LE off!
Another question I had, I went into a junk yard looking for the grill insert, and I said a 96 model, and they kept producing the 92-94 model grill inserts, and saying "thats what we show for 96" am I mistaking the year of my car? I thought the headlights on the 92-94 models cut off at the girl, and the 96-98 models, the head lights kind of "dig in" to the grill with more of a rounded off edge instead of looking like they were cut off.

LOL, yeah, I found out the hard way trying to debadge the C A M R Y. Luckily only one peg came out before I realized. I was like dayummmm, that was the main thing I wanted off of there.
yes sir, those are mine as well. so im a 95-96 model. score. now with the most popular selling car in a american, you think itd be a little easier to find a hood and grill insert ya know?
u can get a black mesh grille from eBay for about $50 i think ... so if thats worth it, then go for it ... contact eyeball96 about that, he got one and got it colormatched
in terms of a hood, what do you want? just an OEM replacement? or like carbon fiber? cuz if you want carbon fiber, there are only like 10 of them ... and they can all be found here if theyre ever for sale, i would say ...
and for headlights, youre out of luck - the 1992-1994 [gen3] model is much more popular and gets all the goodies

Well for the hood, I just want a OEM white replacement, and with the mesh grill, my car is white do you think that would look good?
as for the headlights, nahs, I got me some OEM style replacements from a company like TYC or something through a body shop and their both shiny new with yellow pro1 bulbs in both lows and highs however, damn those 93-94 attention whores...our models look sexier!
