Im just curious to know how many of you would actually front money for a turbo kit that was around 3,000 to 4,000 for your 1mz...
I don't wanna hear if you had the money you would. I want to know who has the money right now and would buy it if someone was selling it...
No im not selling mine and no im not making a kit, just curious is all
The kit would consist of everything you need: No engine management and no water injection
Garrett Turbo
Tial Wastegate
HKS BOV
Intercooler
Fuel pump
Fuel Regulator
Oil and tranny coolers
All fittings and oil/fuel lines (Stainless Steel) -06AN
All gauges (oil temp/press, Wideband, tranny temp)
ALL piping including the down and up pipes with flanges welded on
So basically it would pretty much be bolt on for everything you would just have to take it to a shop and have them weld an exhaust to your down pipe...

well if my engine was in better condition, which it will be soon, yes i would. i would rather not puss out and buy one but im one of thoes gear heads that simply isnt in the right position or location to custom fab much of anything.

Well the advantage of what I listed above would be you dont need custom fabbing. Flanges, bungs and everything would already be welded on and put together.
The person with the kit just needs to bolt it all together, install a piggy back and JB weld a fitting to the oil pan.
The only welding would be where a shop installs an exhaust for you... figure 50 bucks?

I know people would have no problem doing that on newer Camry's, but most Gen3's probably arent even work $3-$4K, lol. I know when I had mine I wanted tog et a turbo going, but it already had 133K and was a '94, so it wouldnt last that much longer, at least not to warrant a $4K turbo setup.
Well you gotta keep in mind, all the parts are quality parts and nearly everything is already welded and assembled for you. A lot of kits I have seen still need welding done. Most of them dont even come with up and down pipes.
Theres no guess work involved as far as what fittings you need what size lines, how long the lines need to be and all that stuff.
I wouldn't pay more than 3k either but it would depend on the amount of work out of the box I had to do.

i think the biggest hurttle would be the amount of people who would actually be willing to pay. ive been around long enough to know that most here are not going to spend 3k for ANY upgrade. but there are a few, me included, who would.
Yea, thats why I wanted to get input from people who are serious or would be serious about something like this.
But true very rare people will spend upwards of 3k on their camry. lol.
But the look on someones face when you pull on them and they dont expect it, is priceless... or when they pop the hood ; )

Theres no doubt that $3-$4K is reasonable, espcially since everything is included, it's just the platform isnt the best. If you could offer Mustang GT members a complete turbo kit for that price, everyone would buy it! I just dont think many people would want to spend the value of their car on a turbo.
But theres no doubt about it, having a turbo'd Camry would be priceless!
Well yea not the best platform.. BUT for someone with a 5-spd 1mz who wants to daily drive it could be a different story...
But who knows maybe there are others out there who what to do what tony did and build the hell out of it.

I'm not in a postion to do something like this yet cause it's still a lil while before I swap over a V6 and 5 speed but just curious would most of this would work for a 3vz-fe in a gen 3 like all the parts that require some serious know how to weld stuff? Do you get what I mean?
Personally I was gonna ask you what shop you used for the hard stuff in the future cause I live in the bronx and finding anyone to do it is hard and you actually found somebody to do it in queens I think.
Anyways it can't be now I haven't swap in a V6 yet sorry!!!
On the other hand you always see people buying civics and stuff that are older than the camry's we have and they spend like that amount for a turbo anyways so I believe it's what is worth it to you. Besides after 4 grand you will probably be much faster than even the new camry and still spend much less than the new camry and still spend the same in insurance.
