4th Generation Motor Oil?

Which brand of oil is best for the 1999 Camry V6. I know that this engine has sludge issues. The engine has around 115 K. Should I run synthetic now or stick to regular/high mileage oils?

The answer to your question is that mobil 1 is the best oil for any engine. If you were to run mobil 1 you could go to 5,000 mile intervals and just change it then.
But this engine already has over 100,000 so you will probably not get the full benefits at this point, i'd be thinking. Camry engines are good at not leaking and burning oil but if you have even a small leak somewhere, synthetic oil can make it worse.
If the engine is in good shape with high compression or at least runs strong, you would not go wrong with running mobil 1 if you want to pay the extra cost. But at this point in the engine's life, running regular old dino oil with changes at 3,000 should be just fine too. Personally all my cars have over 100,000 and i just use regular dino oil, bought by case, with a rebate. And change it every 2,000 - 3,000. And each oil change costs me about $8 or 9 including filter.

(Mobil 1 costs $5 or 6/qt = 5 qts (V6) + tax + filter = about $35-40 for a do it yourself oil change. )
