Onslaught of problems.

Alright guys. So its really hot outside today, and I needed to change my oil. I didnt want to do it myself and theres a shop down the street that does it for 15 bucks using Castrol GTX, so why not? So I go down there and this guy is running around my car waiting for the oil to drain, and heres somethingl I didnt see coming.

I NEED!
-New lower a-arm bushings,
-New Pads
-New motor mount (left side, the easier one to get to)
-New Power steering line
-An oil change, instead a shit load of unfound problems.

So uh, were looking at 165 a piece for the a arms (the entire setup, not just the bushings)
125 for the power steering line, Im doing the pads myself, and I was so depressed I didnt even ask about the a arms.

Heres my deal, I have a 20 hour drive to texas in 2 weeks, so guys help me out here, I need general prices and the difficulty level of doing it my self, and if 2 weeks is a reasonable amount of time to get this done. If not, what can I stand do put off until I get back?

Did you confirm you need all these items? Wont say you don’t need these items, will say offering $15 oil changes is a way to bring cars in and lead to more repair work (and shop profits).

When your changing the pads, check the suspension arms for movement, then the power steering hoses. Which mount, do you feel clunk when shifting into F or R (assuming auto)?

www.rockauto sells the parts you need a faction of the price. Or check AutoZone, NAPA, etc. And why replace the complete arm when a bushing kit is available for $40. The bushings would be the more time consuming job.

The service manual is available on-line at the link below:

I have a power steering leak, I know that much

and for the bushings, when the car was on the lift, the guy could move both of the front wheels in and out and the control arm bushing moves around. I also feel alot of play in the wheel at higher speeds.

as for the engine mount, its very cracked up.

Thanks for the links, Ill look into those. I doubt ill be able to do the bushings myself, I dont have much knowledge, and the only air tool i have is an impact wrench.

When i asked how much the engine mount costs, the mechanic said 75 bucks, and i got it fixed. When i looked on ebay for an engine mount a few days later, i found out that they are less then 20 bucks. I should have just done it myself.

If the dogbone engine mount, the cost should be $20-25 at rockauto.

Im a total fool, I didnt even realize what kinda of work that would take until I thought about it. The next question is, do I spend 260 on two control arm assemblies and do it myself, or have someone do the control arms for 300?
