3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Theres a plug/connection..... you disconnect, when facing the front of the engine its on the top left of the engine bay right next to the firewall, i'll try to find a pic.... but if I can't take a pic or ur engine bay and i'll point it out to you.... goodluck
Yea, I'm kind of new to the Toyota family. This is my first Toyota. I bought it from my wifes grandmother a couple weeks ago. It has 20,300 miles on it. She never drove the damn thing. I'll take a look along the fire wall for that plug. One more question. There is a little black dome looking thing on the passenger side dash. Is this a sensor for the headlights to come on when it gets dark you think?
Even though you disable the DRL's when it turns dark ur car's exterior lights will turn on automatically..... thats a whole different process to work on..... the plug that you are trying to only eliminates the headlights being on during the day
I deffinately want to keep the auto light sensor. I just need to figure out how to turn off the DRL's. I went to go take a picture of my engine bay but the batteries are dead. I will have to post it later.
It depends on which generation you have. I think I read somewhere that you had to either disconnect the grey connector or disconnect something under the steering wheel depending on which generation you had. I haven't disabled the DRL's but I unplugged the nighttime sensor on the dash since I like to manually control my headlights.
for Gen 4's the DRL plug is right at the top left corner if your looking at your engine bay from the front. There is like a gray plug which is stuck on a metal piece. Unplug that and your DRL's are off.
for Gen 4.5 no idea...
I turned off my DRL's on my 97 camry and now just have my fog lights on for day light and it looks awesome!

I think that would be the nightime sentinel on the dash on the passenger side. That controls when the headlights turn on and off. Correct me if I'm wrong.
