3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I got my driveshafts replaced about 3 years ago and my 92 4cyl Camry hasn't been the same interms of smoothness at highway speeds. Also the brakes are pulsing when I brake in any speed. I currently have some rotors on order because I'm trying to eliminate the problem chaepest part at a time. Also does anybody know if you can balance your drive shafts?? Also tires and wheels are new and notice they get hot.
When I apply the brakes it increases in frequency depending on the speed of the car. Higher the speed faster the pulse or shudder on the front end. I can feel in the pedals and the steering wheel. But I think my mind is foolong me as I think I feel it a lil even when I don't have the brakes applied, that is why I'm concerned about the driveshafts. hopefully by Brembo rotors I have on order will fix this.
Tires and wheels are brand new, less that 500 km on them. So it's probably the Rotors or bad Drive Shafts. Any part of the Steering and suspension system I should look for worn parts??
you said the brakes are pulsating. that's caused by warped disc rotors. nothing to do with driveshafts or wheel balance. put the new rotors on already and if the problem is still there, troubleshoot further then. fix one thing at a time.
I agree; warped rotors are the only cause I've ever seen for a pulsing brake pedal. I would definitely replace them.
If there's still a problem afterwards, check your wheels and tires for out-of-balance AND out-of-round. I've seen tire problems that simulate the feel of warped rotors. They don't actually make the pedal pulse, but they can make the car's braking force change in a way that feels to me like the pulsing I get with warped rotors, especially at low speeds.
