the best for most is 18 or 17 since they consider tirelife and expense. i got 17s but wish i had 18 for the looks. but one good bump and im glad i have that extra sidewall to keep from popping my tires.

Personally I think 17" for a Gen 3 with little or no lowering or 18s to a max of 19s with aggressive lowering. I have 17x7 wheels with 45 seris tires and with no lowering. The ride is perfect for me, and what an improvement over stock 195/70/14 tires!! Thou next set up might be a lil lowered due to the body roll factor of stock struts.
Also another point to consider is that the Gen 3 has a pretty small and short ass end and I find it looks funny if you have to big-a-wheel! Just depends on the look you want....2..jeezz no cent sign on the keyboard!!?
thanks a lot for the all the info guys...i am prolly go for 17"...now its just a matter of workin up the dough .....most likely round september or octobor (fingers crossed)
I had 18 and 40's..looked good, road rough, this is my DD, so i sold them and went 17's with 50's rides smooth....looks,?? well alright. I am mildly lowered with HR sports, and have a 40 offset..no rubbing. The 18's were 45 offset 7.5 no rubbing there either

If going with 18's and worried so much about loosing sidewall protection than just up the tires!! If you started out with a V6 you can run 45 series tires with 18's and not mess up the speedometer that much but the other hand people who started with the i4 engine have to rock 40 series tires with 18's to not mess up the speedometer up too much!!!
