Replacing deck

How do I remove the deck? Mine is crapping out on me and my friend said he'll lend me his spare OE Subaru STi deck for the time being.

I already have a aftermarket one in and its single din. Instructions anyone??

good luck dude... i think u'll need to get a wire harness to make that subaru deck work on ur car... each car has diff wires... either that or u start splicing and try to figure out what goes where... it would be cheaper for u to jsut buy an after market deck from vader or a/b sound man... otherwise u're just askin for more trouble than u think leon... good luck dude... btw nice to see ur car driving around once in a while... so rare to see another nice cam on the road these dayz

you need to get a harness and a manual for both sets to tell which wires match up

Dont go through double the trouble of installing and removing, just get the new deck and put it in. its not worth it. they are so cheap now anyway.

Pull the U-shaped panel around the radio. Some people refer to this as the radio surround. The clips are on the bottom at both sides. Start working it out from there. Something like a dental pick or a j-hook tool helps to release the clips. Once the bottom is out the top just unhooks a bit from underneath the top. Then disconnect the modular electrical connectors from the lighter and the light around it. The surround is now free. You will see 2 or 4 screws that hold the radio cage to the dash. Remove the 4 screws and the cage with the radio will pull out. Reach behind and disconnect the modular plugs to the radio along with the antenna. Now you remove the radio from the cage by removing the screws from each side of the cage.

On my '95 LE they were 10 mm screws with slots for an phillip's screwdriver - but they were so tight I started to strip a couple so I just used a 10 mm socket.

Anyway, I've put in my share of radios over the years and changing my Camry's radio was the easiest one I've done. That piece of trim pops right off, remove the four bolts, and the radio is out. When putting in the new radio you won't be using the new radio's installation cage nor the new radio's trim ring. And assuming you have a pocket under your stock radio already, you won't be using a kit.

It's as easy as taking candy from a baby.
