Unhappy Window reg keeps breaking

If you read my last post about opening the door, the reason was to replace the window regulator. The orginal one failed 2 years ago, replaced it with one off ebay, now it is broken again. Whats the deal? Should I fork over all the money to replace it with an OEM one? Anyone have any experience with other aftermarket ones?

has the car been in an accident? how long was the original regulator working fine for before it broke 2 years ago? if it was working fine for say, more than 6 months, then it's probably just seizing up causing the regulator to break.

i use "graphite powder". it's a very fine dust that you run down the bailey channels. other than that, you could try wd-40, but it dries out after a few days and you'll need to keep re-applying it at least once a week.

Well the orginal one lasted for 13 years. My concern is that aftermarket parts aren't as high of quaility as Toyota parts.

However, after breaking in, it looks like the motor itself is bad. It feels like it is over heating or something. Even with no load on the motor, the motor will stop after running for like 20 seconds. I tried opening the motor nd gear housing nd lubing everything with grease, but thta didn't help. On the gen 3 part list it lists the motor speratetly, but says it is included with the regulator. Any ideas? If I could just get the motor that would work. If not should I go after market? It is $40 some versus $200 some. The thing is I don't want to keep replacing it every 2 years.

you shouldn't have to replace it every 2 years. my 30 year old ford has electric windows and they all work. why don't you try a motor from a junkyard? but if the regulator is breaking, i'd say it's because there is too much resistance from the window going up and it probably just needs to be lubricated (graphite powder of whatever you want to use)
