4th Generation 97 camry strut and spring install

hey guys you may remember me from all the threads out springs and struts well today i should be installing everything and im excited but i just have one question

those of you who have done strut and spring installs did you have to compress the spring onto the strut because thats what im going to have to do and i was just seeing if thats normal...i know you have to compress to get the old spring off but i was seeing if its normal and ok to have to compress to put the spring on

yes, you havta compress springs onto struts which is why often people dont have the tools to do this install themselves, so they rent a spring compressor

the only exceptions are coilovers, or when you buy a package and the seller will sometimes do it for you

yeah im borrowing one of my bros friends compressor cause it makes it so much easier but when my bro put the strut and springs on his 93 camry he didnt have to compress it back on because the spring was already short enough so thats why i was wondering but for his install he just had the strut inserts so idk if that makes a difference
