OVERsteering on a freeway ramp almost killed me a few days ago...
oversteering! not understeering...
This illustration (figure b) is pretty much what my car did while going on a ramp, except that i was turning right instead of left as this illustration shows...
an RSB can help just by preventing body roll. that imbalance caused by body roll can cause the ouside wheel to slide out easier since the forces applied in the turn are concentrated to one side. but as with most FWD, jsut learn the threshhold and learn how to recover. its hard for me to oversteer but with the stock suspension i could do it is conditions were right, and not just weather.
Yeah, just how fast were you going? I took a turn on an on-ramp at around 40 MPH and I could feel my car wanting to lose traction with the ground so I let off the gas. Sounds like the solution is as simple as slowing down - for your safety and the safety of others.

Did you have to brake halfway through the turn? THe only time I've unintentionaly oversteered was when I didn't realize there was a stop around a sharp corner I had been gassing around and braked a lil suddenly.
I've spun out before.... yeah on my Camry, not fun at all. Off ramp, didn't know what I was doing saw a sign that said 30km/h and did a "OH SHIT" reaction slow down, turned and it was gone from there. Luckily I didn't hit anything and no one was following me.
actually, letting off the gas in a turn helps induce oversteer, while giving it slightly more reduces oversteer. especially in a fwd where the weight distribution is poor. give proper information please. honestly, ive done it twice, and im a stickler for wanting details, so i paid attention and recreated it. multiple times, its especially easy to do it in the rain when your cautious and want to slow down in a turn. big mistake, if ur worried about the slick road and want to slow down, make sure u do it before u enter the turn, and u wont have any problems. do not shift weight.
edit: pulled off a performance driving website incase you dont believe me.
Common Mistake #4
Lastly and most importantly, the most dangerous mistake is letting off the throttle completely when your car starts to over steer into a turn. It is instinctual to want your car to slow down when you are losing control, but in fact, that is the most dangerous thing to do. Letting off the throttle causes weight to transfer to the front wheels allowing the rear wheels to lose traction even more. In a FWD car, when you begin to slide (over steer) in a turn, mash onto the throttle and point your tires in the direction of the turn's exit. This will cause your front tires to pull you out of the turn in the right direction. Remember in a FWD car, "gas to save your ass."
