Oh No! Rounded hex

I was trying to put my new anti-squeal shims on but when i tried to unscrew the caliper, the top bolt was already rounded. Apparently the ones who did my brakes before somehow screwed in a rouned bolt. I tried pb blaster and tapped it but its not coming out with my wrench. Do you think the dealer would take it out fo me? I tried calling a toyota specialist which is right next to my house almost and they said they won't do it unless im changin the whole caliper so i said hell no. Any suggestions?

You can try to get one of those bolt-out tools but you will need to find a replacement bolt because those won't put bolts back in.

Something like this:
http://www.irwin.com/irwin/consumer/...rwinProd100512

You may be able to get the bolts from a Toyota dealer, but they may not keep them in stock and you'll have to wait a few days for them to order the part.

I used a bolt extractor to remove my differential fill plug after my wrench splayed and rounded the plug. I had to order another plug from Toyota to replace it.

what's pb blaster? try getting a single hex socket on it and tap it on with a hammer so that it goes all the way in. sometimes that does the trick, otherwise, do as touringcamry suggested and get yourself a bolt extractor.

Maybe this will work.

You can try local HomeDepot or Lowes. Maybe the Irwin web site can find you a seller close by. You problem might be access. Is this a front or rear caliper?

i work at the depot and i can tell ya that we have thoes here but alot of stores dont. they really wont work well in this case anyways. there good for removing bolts that are slightly rounded but u dont want to damage further. u may have to drill it out and then retap.
