Brake Working Properly ????

Hi guys,

I am not sure whether there is a problems with my brake.
I know from my sister car (Mazda 626) when the car is not running and everytime i hit the brake and release it, it getting harder each time i press it.

Whereas in my Camry i was able to press all the way down without much efford, and it doesn't matter how many time i did the press and release, it just the same.

What is the likely caught of it???

do the brakes preform when its running? check ur brake fluid. it may also be the mastercylinder.

It perform ok while the car is in motion.
But not too sure why i can press and release and the pressure on the brake is still the same.

When was the last time you did a brake fluid flush?

It was like 6-12 months ago!!!!

check your brake fluid level

1. may have air in the system - try a flush/bleed
2. low on fluid
3. leaking brake fluid
4. broken master cylinder
5. worn calipers and or drums
6. clean and adjust your brakes

Not too sure whether this might be the problems....i remembered when i change my front brake...when i inpect the caliper....the part where there is rubber surrounding the piston that part is damage ( the rubber got some tear on it)....so i don't know whether that caught my brake problems??

Sorry don't know whether you guys can understand what i am trying to say...if not i will post some pic tomorrow.

Sounds like you may have air in the system and each time you press the pedal you compress the air so the pedal feels harder.

Whereas in my Camry i was able to press all the way down without much efford, and it doesn't matter how many time i did the press and release, it just the same.

Sounds normal to me unless the pedal travel is lower than it should be. Low fluid shouldn't cause that unless air is in the system or the master cylinder has a problem. If your boot is torn rust will form on the cylinder wall. As your pads wear and the piston advances you may get a brake fluid leakage and/or piston sticking.

Your sister's brake system is working properly; your Camry's is not. It sounds like you have a problem with your power brake system vacuum unit. It is probably not holding pressure. Frist, look for broken vacuum lines leading to the power brake unit. If those all check out, I would then download the generation 3 Toyota factory service manual stickied at the top of the General Camry Discussion Forum, and run the diagnostic tests for the power brake vacuum unit.
