Tire size

I've been told that 225 45 18 will be too high and that I should get 225 40 18's

First of all the difference isn't much and secondly my mileage will be too far off.
Third of al,l the ride will be a bit better with more rubber. yes no?

So, does anyone agree that 45's will be too high or is that just an opinion on asthetics.

Do I need to 40's?

My car is 93 camry le 5sfe.

It is on the high side but it does give more sidewall and less fender gap but your speedometer will be off by 4.7% and it's too much, when you hit 60 mph on the speedometer you are actually hitting 62.8 mph so it makes it slower. Also it will be 15mm higher than before. The closest tire that is to stock on the 4 cylinder camry is 215/40/18.

Use this tire calculator and try something else, you can go ahead and try 225/40 or 235/40 if you want a lil more sidewall and don't mind sacrificing a lil slower speedometer readings but it shouldn't be as much 45 series tires. Also depends on the width of the rim. 5sfe camry's started out with 195/70/14 so you get different numbers compared to the V6 camry cause that started out with 205/65/15 just to inform people!!!

hmmm? I used a different calculator before and it said 40 was off too far so I had to use 45's. I think the site was tire rack.

You sure you put the right numbers down like the stock tires were 195/70/14. I used two different calculators and got the same numbers remember changing the width of the also counts too.

You know what.. now I've been wrong twice in one forum. Damn it.
Let's just say my memory sucks and that It has to be 40. Wow, I wish I drank coffee cause I'm way out to lunch on this one.
Thanks for helping me pull my head out of my ass.
