Just a suggestion....

Someone should make a sticky on how to remove/replace the power steering belt on a 5sfe.

There's lots of info on changing the timing belt but they all skip how you get the power steering off first.

I had a heck of a time and I was dead sober.
There has to be an easier way than what I did. The bolts are a hugh pain to get to especially the top (anchor?) bolt.

Hopefully someone can at least tell me how to get at the top bolt.
Thanks, still a noob.

Use a breaker bar and/or cheater pipe.

The process is pretty simple, changing all the accessory belts is pretty simple.

I had this problem when I was doing my timing belt. For the life of me I couldnt loosen the pump. I wound up cutting it out of fustration and the need to break something. Turns out there is a bolt in between the power steering pulley and the harmonic balencer a couple inches back from the plane of the pulleys. If you are looking in the wheel well with the tire removed you can see it. There is even room to get a screwdriver in there to pry it and tighten it.

i know from experience that gen 3s can be harder to change than gen 3.5s due to rust and the way one of the bolts passes through the pump body. the design was changed on the gen 3.5 model.

I already changed the belt, I just figure there's an easier way.
I think removing the wheel would have helped a lot.
