3rd Generation BULB replacement

Hi guys,

I was trying to change the bulbs behind my instrument cluster. I got everything off and got to the bubls. But I can take the bulbs out of their plastic holders so that i can swap it out with replacement 194s. The threads suggest that the original bulbs are soldered on, if thats the case how can I replace the bubls?

Would I have to go to toyota to get replacement bubls? I know several people had changed their cluster bulbs.

Thank you,

CamBOT

I got the LEDs online. But I cant take the old bulbs out of the holders that fit into the gauge cluster.

The bulb goes on the holder

the holder goes on the back of the instrument panel.

Just buy new holders that will accept your bulbs for $0.25 a piece + shipping... no Toyota dealership ripoff necessary.

We dont have autozone here. [in Canada] But we do have Parts source! I'll check them out tomorow, its on my way to work. I have not seen those at a Walmart. Well atleast the canadian ones. American Walmart carries so much more stuff! Failing that I could always order from bestHK.

Thanks to everyone.

For anyone who wants to replace the dash bulbs, heres what i found out.

If your camry was made in the US, then your bulbs do not come out of the socket. You will have to go to toyota to order new bubls or buy the holder from the internet.

If your car is made in Japan then your bulbs will just pop out. The japanese made cars have holders made by Thosiba; grey in colour. The US made ones do not have a brand name on them and are brown.

I solved my issue bygoing to the local scrap yard and finding a camry that had the toshiba holders. They were free + gas, to drive the 6 km to the yard.
