3rd Generation strange screeching sound.....

I have no clue as to where it is coming from, but when I drive around for quite a while, a screeching noise happens. If i push the brake or just brake to a stopping point, the noise is gone and usually doesnt come back till a while or the next time i drive my car.

The gas pedal does not affect the noise.

When the car is in motion and I press the brake to slow down does the noise goes away temporarily for the duration of the brake.

It does not sound like brakes, but more like metal grinding together. If you ever been to a cafe or worked in one, it sounds just like the milk heating machine. Sicne when did cars come with milk heating machines? O_o

Hmm..brake pads maybe? sounds like the brake pad warning indicator clip. It would make noise without no brakes press but noise should go away unless your pads are extremely thin, then you got that grind and loud metal to metal squeel.

My '85 Camry has to have this odd 'scraping' noise at random times, sometimes only when gold and sometimes only when after while driving. It would go away when brakes was pressed. Now after 6 months of that, it got worst and now there is a constant scraping and sometimes 'grinding' noise when stoping (along with vibration). For all I know, my front brake pads are toasted along with my rotors. I got the parts but no time to install.

Dosen't this conflict with each other. You said that braking makes the noise go away, but then it dosent? Am I missing something?

Could you be having a backbleeding caliper that when you press on the brake it'll let it pull back to normal then over time come back in just slight enough to start making a noise?

Let me rephrase.

earlier on before the pads got really bad, it would make a scraping noise while driving and the noise would go away when brakes were applied. As the pads got worst over time from use, the noise continued when driving and a scraping metal sound when brakes applied.
