3rd Generation Deleting The Sub Oxygen Sensor

Hello everybody (again) im back with another question regarding my new performance headers that I just bought for a 97 camry 5SFE. My 95 camry has a Main Oxygen sensor and a Sub Oxygen sensro just after the cataylist, butwhen I checked with Chltons manula for a 97 camry thy only have one damn sensor. so which one do I delete or keep? Also what will happen if I delete either sensor? Will it hurt my engine or just give me a damn CEL? Any and all help is gretly appreciated.

I believe if you delete the second one you will get a CEL.

What do you think would happen if I just cut the primary o2 Sensor? AFM goes bad or something?

Why would you cut the primary O2 sensor????

It lets the car know if its running rich or lean and sends that info to the ECU where it determines if it needs more fuel or air.

At least thats how i think it goes.

well the performance header that I got only has ONE o2 Sensor fitting so i either cut the min sensor or the sub sensor. Which one would sound like a a chice that you would reccomend because at this piont if the only thing i get from one is a CEL and the other is poor gas mileage ill take the CEL.

Go to the shop and have them weld a bung on. I doubt it costs too much and it probably would take them 10 minutes.

Cool

Drill hole in pipe, weld $3-7 o2 bung onto pipe. Problem solved lol!
If you're deleting your cat thread a spark plug stand-off on it to hold the o2 sensor out of te exhaust stream. This will fool the ECU into thinking the cat is still thre.

Thx everybody for the advice, i will letmy installer know what you have told me and see what he says. The header that I bought was an OBX Racing Stainless Steel 4-2-1 Design with downpipe and gaskets. Its is originally fit for a 97 camry with the 5SFE. If there is anything thing else that I need to know wether its about the header that I bought or how to install it correctly, please let me know.

if its made for a 97, it should have enough sensor holes .... OBD-II usually needs more sensors than OBD-I

The post cat sensor monitors the efficiency of the pre-cat. Your car would not pass emission testing in thoses states we where it exists. You wiil get a CEL siituation without them.

Correction: the post cat sensor monitors the efficiency of the cat --- not the pre-cat.
