Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Anyone know how to wire up this steering wheel airbag to a gen3.5? I figured it might be possible to get a set of matching clockspring connectors(3rd pic) and splicing them into the existing clockspring wiring. Is it possible?
Oh, check out this little gem I found for the gen3/3.5
Auto-dimming goodness. Now all I have to do is change the crappy, blurry tint. I didn't think it was really for the gen3/3.5, but after a test fit, it is indeed for the gen3/3.5. It even darkens to a deep blue tint. Nice huh?
DAMN thats an awesome find. I love that steering wheel.

No, haven't got it in yet. Got the connectors though, and they fit perfectly. I still don't have a wiring diagram to help me splice the new connectors into the gen 3.5 clockspring. And as far as mods, the Camry will be on the back burner untill further notice. I've got my 1965 Mustang coupe project cooking up really nice now. I had to drop $8500 on paint and body work on the Mustang, so I don't have it in my budget for more Camry mods. I love my Camry, but I've wanted a '65 Mustang since I was 12 years old. I recently got the chance to have my dream car, so I had to go for it. I figure I'll have the best of both worlds. A reliable, gas sipping, classy, day-to-day driver, and a powerful, visceral, gas guzzling, tire smoking, window rattling, air polluting, old school, weekend warrior.
I was wondering.. what happens when the airbag comes out in an accident. Each car is designed with the steering wheel of that car when it is tested.. What if the gen 5 camry steering wheel airbags are much bigger? Wouldnt that be a problem? Or what if its smaller and cant hold you back from your steering wheel? Has anyone checked on that? I would love to put a new camry steering wheel in my car, but my friends who work at the junk yards dont want to sell me one cheap cause they are afraid the bags might do more damage than good. They suck!
