3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
did a search, came up empty handed, probably my bad so apologizing in advance. my question is whats the towing capacity of a '94 4cyl sedan. im not expecting to tow a camper, just didnt know if a load of firewood here and there or my wheeler could be done. also where do you recommend ordering or getting them installed. thanks
um like none .... we barely have enough torque to take fat people up a hill
if youre going on flat land or under 50mph you should be fine with some firewood ... but dont expect to go taking Jetski's down to Florida for a weekend

I am fairly sure Toyota does not recomend using the Camry as a tow vechicle, given its rather soft suspension and limited power. In the real world I suspect it would do ok with up to 1,000# or so as long as you are only going a short distance and have no steep hills, for all you hear online about the lack of power in the 4 cylinder, it is far more poweful than most 4 cylinder cars sold in the 1980's, it is just not as powerful as those sold today.
Get a truck. Camry's are for hauling groceries, doing 0-60 in 5 minutes and going to bingo night down at the home on tuesdays.

Check sites like www.etrailer.com. Get a hitch that sets up high on the frame like the Drawtite Class I Sport Frame, otherwise the hitch frame will drag when going up curbs, etc. These hitches are an easy bolt on operation.
A 4-cylinder will tow 1000 lbs pretty well. At 2000+ lbs plan on short, lower speed local trips that minimizes any hills.

Disclaimer: not responsible for Camrys Gen 3 & 4; 4cyl. engine failures. Operate at the cost of buying a new car after the trip. You deserve to get smacked by fatchix and getting left behind by your spouse for attempting such a task.
I imagine you should be able to get the smallest U-haul trailer (aluminum) moderatley loaded. Like carry and engine or a bedroom set. I think it you ever overload it it's just a matter of being soft on the gas and giving enough stopping distance.
