What do you think?

Hey everyone,

My camry is getting old and needs new struts and AC and other minor stuff. But someone wants to buy it for 1500 CAD.

Then I saw this car.
http://www.trader.ca/Search/Details....ADS=6297130%7C

Its a 93 v6 LE with 212km or, 132 miles, and the seller wants 1500 CAD. He said that the car needs a new windsheild and fuel line.

I know the windsheild I can get done for like 200, How much would fuel lines cost?

If I can get the car for 1250ish do you think its a good deal?

Let me know what you think, I really want a 5 speed and a v6!

u never know what condition the engine is in, but if you can bring it to a shop and have them inspect it before you buy then that would be a great tradeoff!

i wish someone would buy my car and gimme a 5spd

quite a deal!

BUT, since it's so cheap and it's an "as is" deal, go take it for a test drive and bring it to a mechanic (that your trust) for their opinion on what needs to be done on it first.

the 5spd v6 should rip it's way down the road....if it doesn't do that when you drive it, then there's probably something wrong with it

ask what's wrong with the fuel line. It's possible (and probable) that it's a twist in the line under the fuel filter. Mine had the same problem when I got it, the previous owner didn't understand what tool to use to remove the fuel filter (clearly) and ended up twisting it. It wasn't starving the car to the point of stalling, but it obviously wasn't good either.

I ended up just buying a stretch of fuel line from a shop, cutting it to size, flaring the ends and using compression fittings to repair it. Total cost? maybe $10 in parts

If the general condition is good enough, a drive will tell you if the trans is any good too. Ask him what parts got replaced and when, if he knows.

But the main thing i would do is a compression check if you can. If compression is good the car might be a steal and good for another 100,000 or more - i'd just want to be sure i'm not buying somebody else's nightmare car thats going to need truckloads of parts soon.
