3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
he wants me to pay for his exhaust, an aftermarket one, which he said teh insurance company wont pay for. and for his tinted taillights, which needs replacing. he wants $1,500.
At least i didnt kill anyone or myself. and no one is claiming injuries, in fact no ambulance showed up and no one went to the hospital. he had 3 passenger, and i was by myself. thank god i'm okay and no one is injured. but its gonna cost me. now i gotta give my parents the increase in insurance and my car has to be fixed. but thats not much considering how worse it could have been. my airbag did not deploy.
we were on the belt parkway, he stopped cuz about 15 to 20 cars stopped and i ran into him, but not before pressing my brakes which caused my car to slide, it took so long i had time to check the right lane to see if i could go into it, but there was a car in that lane, and i was in the middle lane, so i just held the brake and i hit him. my tires suck, my brakes and rotors were replaced in january. it happened quickly, i didnt think to pump my brake or pull the emergencey brake up. its f'd up. his brake light wasnt even lit, cuz he has a manual and he must of been in neutral and his taillights are tinted, i looked to the car to his left and then i realized that they were stopped before i pressed my brakes. i was doing about 55 or more. he was already at a complete stop, plus there was a bend in the road, after i made the bend then i saw him. sucks all around. was 11pm at night as well.
it is my first accident. been driving 7 months. no tickets. i'm 22.5 years old. i share a policy with my parents. my dads car is fully covered mine is not. about 2,200 for both vehicles. 1,000 for his fully covered, about 1,200 for mine not fully covered.
how much will my insurance go up? liability coverage.
supposedly the cop wrote that we were racing and speeding through traffic, will my insurance compnay still pay?
he said he got phone calls and witnesses but i'm sure he cant prove shit.
my cousin is a cop but i dont know it he can do anythign about the report, i hear only the offier that wrote it can change it.
ANY ADVICE GUYS? thank you all. you all be safe out there, get your brakes working right, changed your tires and keep your hand on that emergency brake.
yeah man, especially since you've only been driving for 7 months.
i've been driving for 3 and a half years with no tickets or accidents and i think my accident from 2 weeks ago is gonna skyrocket my insurance, let alone how it is for you since you've been on the road for 7 months.
good luck, man.
oh and insurance companies takes forever to pay out. don't worry about when they're gonna pay him. as long as you don't have to pay out of pocket, you got insurance for a reason. just focus on yourself and how much your premium is gonna go up.

i'm replacing my headlights, corner lights and turn signals with brand new clear ones. i'll keep the amber bulbs to be legal though.
and i gotta replace my front bumper, hood and drivers side fender. cheapest prices are on ebay. my father's cousin will do the work and paint both fenders, hood and bumper. the fenders need pulling forward cuz they are touching the door now.
DO I HAVE TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY? if so when? excuse the ignorance its my first accident.
God....a g35 at that. Hope it all goes well for you. Never been in an accident so don't know much about it. (I always keep my hand on the e-brake driving.......anywhere).
damn, sorry to see what happened now that the pics are up. that g35 sure got owned in terms of damage.
btw, don't pay him for the exhaust. it's aftermarket and unless he has receipts to prove it's worth and whatever, don't pay him yet. contact a lawyer if you must but don't do any cash settlements on the side. if his insurance won't cover it, tough shit. if he tries to sue you on it, he won't win.

oh and by the way, no need to revive three other accident threads just to post the link to your thread right here. no need to advertise, people will see it on their own.

Hmmmm- tinted tails huh.. don't give him any money AT ALL. He shoulda taken a picture ov his upgraded parts and sent it to insurance w/reciept if he wanted it to be covered. Tough luck for the boy.. .
With the quarter panel Damage on the G35, it going to be expensive to fix it, if he has high milage, the insurance will total it!...Glad no one was hurt, could've been worse! I'd get OEM parts from the JY, ebay parts don't fit as well!

That really sucks, but looks like the Carmy held up well, where as the G35 looks horrible! Especially since usually in rear-end collisions the one that hit the rear of the other car looks worse in terms of damage.
As far as the accident goes, my friend hit a car while after hitting a tree. That was back in February and his insurance hasnt gone up - yet, so dont worry about it skyrocketing next month. I dont know how much it will go up, but from what I hear it can go up by several hundred dollars a year.
I wouldnt pay him for the aftermarket parts, talk to the insurance company and see if it's covered. You never have to pay out of pocket just because the other guy says so, especially if your having insurance take care of this.
