Squeeky Breaks

Bit of a problem...

When I first got my car it had a bit of a squeek when I backed up and then braked (since then it has gone away after a few months). NOW... As of like... a month or two ago, I noticed wehn I slowed down to stop, it would make a little squeeking sound. As time wore on, it got worse and worse. Now I went to my mechanic like 2 weeks ago and paid $300 to get "new brakes" and the problem was fixed for about... 3 days. And it squeeks just like it did before the "new break job" and the ntoher day when I was on the parkway, doing like... 80mph, I noticed my steering wheel shook a little more than it should (my friend suggested that since it was a freeway and a lot of trucks are on it, the road is warped and that was why it shook) but I thikn it's my rotors... Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I'm going to try to drop my car off at the mechanic today telling him my brakes still squeek and I want either a) new brakes or b) new rotors - since last time he worked on it the problem has not improved...

first of all u need to get ur parts straight. ur brakes are everything(rotors, calipers, mounting hardware and some may even roll lines and mastercylinder in that catigory too). ur rotors my be warped but if u tell him to replace ur brakes, that will include the rotors and prolly alot of other stuff u dont need.

u need to find out exactly what they replace, that squeek can be caused by new pads and time will make it go away. the wheel shake, the weights on the wheels may have come off at teh shop or he put the wrong wheel on the wrong side. good luck and dont yell at ur mechanic

There are no adjustments on front disc brakes. What else did he do? Did he spray some "disc brake quiet" on the backs of the pads and then reassemble them? Disc brake quiet is a sticky substance that makes the pads stick to the caliper and the caliper piston. Without this sticky substance on the backs of the pads, the pads can vibrate. It's this vibration that usually causes the squeaking.

its a camry...if he didnt install oem pads with antisqueel, your chances of getting squeel increases dramatically.

Yeah that's it. it squeeks a little from the dealer. And no I havent... I should make this a new thread but I have some ideas about my car...

-Upcoming Future Mods-
New Headlights (like get the ones with the black instead of chrome/silver background)
New Grille (Black Grill, like, shiny black)
Tints (35s on the front two windows, 25s on the back 3)

-Few years from now, around ~100k miles - At 70k now)-
Completely new exhaust system (but no rice burner garbage...)
Either get a turbo (I have a 4cyl so...)
Or get a complete engine swap for a nissan twin turbo.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions (or if you have the parts) let me know

Toyota uses shims under the pads, special grease, springs, etc to prevent the noise. Squeaking of disk brakes can happen if certain pads or installation methods are not used.

Squeaking disk brakes are not uncommon and do no harm. Make sure the squeak is not the pad wear indicator that starts making noise when the pads need changing.
