i think this is the torque converter lockup solenoid. Is the converter locking up? The solenoid can be accessed by removing the trans oil pan. Coil resistance is 10.16.9 ohm, check to see if the solenoid operates when 12DC is applied.

Can also be the wiring to the solenoid from ECU.

Not sure on costs. Lockup occurs after 50mph, this should result in a drop of engine RPM. Suggest turing the O/D off, then driving around to see if the RPM drops when on HWY above say 50mph, engine warm.

FSM shows two posible codes for lockup solenoid. P0770 is for mechanical operation failure and P0773 is for electrical failure, although if the shift solinoid coil is bad you will need to replace solenoid. Order of inspection is 1. ECM terminal 2. ECM terminal harness to solenoid connector harness. 3. Check coil resistance of solenoid. 11-15 ohm. Could be just simple harness/wire connection problem. Pan will have to be removed for access to solenoid connector or solenoid. No expert, just looking at the manual. Maybe 1-2 hours labor??
