Which is better?

Hey guys, i'm trying to decide between KYB Gr2 struts and Tokico struts. I know that the tonikos offer a sportier ride. But how do both of these compare in duarability?

I also noticed that the KYB are more expensive that Tokicos.

Your thoughts please,

Thanks guys

I'm going to order them off ebay from "qualified japanese auto parts" Also what else would i need to replace? mounts?

4th Generation

I've had KYB GR2's on my last 2 cars (over 250,000 miles worth of driving) and they are great. Some of the guys have complained of shortened life on them if you are dropping the car more than 1.5". They have a lifetime warr, but I have never had a problem that required finding out how well that is enforced. I'm running Eibach springs.

You definitely want to replace your strut mounts when you swap the struts. The camry's are known to have probs with the strut mounts breaking. I like the KYB mounts as well.

My $.02 worth.

Can't complain about KYBs. Have them on 2 cars. The ones on the Previa lasted until just under 300K miles. That being said, the only other structs that I can compare to is Monroe, which is the automotive equivalent of a WalMart pace maker.

KYB = more like OEM
Tokico = more agressive/stiffer ride

if you are just doing a daily commute to/from work, the KYB's should fit your needs

Tokico all the way if you're serious about handling.

no Ksport, D2, JIC, Hotbits, TRD and Whiteline if you are SERIOUS.

Reality being KYB's for oem like ride

Tokico's for more aggressive drivers.

The serious stuff is for the serious enthusiast

As far as durability, KYB. I had KYB GR-2 on my car with rigged suspension (Won't get into details, but it was dropped 1.5" and was really really stiff) for 20,000 miles, and when I changed my springs to Intrax the KYBs were still at full dampining capability.

Well i wont be dropping the car or anything. I just feel the OEM struts are bit too soft for the way I drive. I drive my brother's v6 and I feel its soft. So i'm going Tokicos.

So I guess i need the 4 struts and the 4 strut mounts?
