99 Camary 4 cyl Stuck Spark Plugs

I have a 99 Camary that I need to replace the plugs and wires on. i hope that i am describing this clearly but, the plugs are not actually stuck. I just cant get the wrench down on the plugs. The plugs are recessed about 6 inches down from the top of the valve cover. There is a rubber insulator that came off of the plug wire tips when I pulled the plug wires off. I can't remove the plugs because I can't get the insulators off of the plugs. This rubber piece keeps the plug wrench from going down far enough to contact with the plug. I tried a long pair of needle nose pliars but. that did not work. Does anyone have any idea how to get these out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take a wire hanger and make a hook at the other end and put it down there. I had that happen a couple of times as well. As far as how to remove the plugs you need a extension bar as well as a spark plug remover socket. It has a piece of rubber inside to grip on the spark plug.

Whenever you get around to putting some new spark plug boots on, use a lubricant (sparingly), such as 'spark plug boot lube' or something similar. ... It's kind of a grease.

Thanks guys for the quick reply. I never thought about a coat hanger..I will make sure to get some lube before replacing the wires too.

Now I just have to figure out how to fix my driver side power window. It gets tired sometimes and has to rest a while before it will go up. I did a search on the forum and now I have a pretty good idea what to check for this.

This has been a great car so far. Bought it in '99 with 10k miles on it (program car) Now it has 177k with very few repairs. (timing belt & water pump, brakes, and a couple tune ups)
