Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i like it. i over-fill to 5 quarts in the civic & do 10-15,000m. then flush it out afterwards. wix, purolator filter.
just keep in mind that filters only last 5,000-7,500 miles

technically unless u buy the EP oil, it wont last past 10K. and good note on the filter. 5k intervals on semi hard driving/stop and go/short trips is quite enough on any motor oil.
'i like it' means to me that its giving me the epa gas mileage or better, and it stays cleaner for longer, and finally how smooth it idles or drives even till the end when i have to change the oil out.
high mileage oils are good with the additives, and i would say (along with popular mechanics) better than buying aftermarket additives.
It costs me a grand total of $27.78 to do my own synthetic oil change and i do it twice or three times a year.

I usually don't get involved in oil discussions as they go on foreever and don't prove much. Just about any oil of the proper weight changed regularly will work well. I guess my point is, "I like it" works, but if you're interested to know why you like it then you should do some oil analysis. The reference link to the long term oil test just shows synthetic can go much farther than you think before changing. I don't use synthetic on my Camry, dino at 3K changes. I use one brand of synthetic on one other vehicle and a different brand on another vehicle. The oil filter change and oil change intervals were arrived at for both synthetic use vehicles by using oil analysis. Initially I did a test every six months at about $10 for the basic test + another $10 for the TBN. Your test interval may be different. It took me two $20 tests to feel comfortable with my choice of oil/oil grade and change interval. Now I just do a yearly $10 test to keep track of engine wear and oil condition. For instance one test item shows % water and % fuel in the oil. A higher % water showed I was not driving one of the vehicles as often as it should have been driven to evaporate the water. This vehicle also showed an elevated % fuel over norm which lead me to send the injectors out to be professionally cleaned and tested. That fixed the excess fuel problem. Both fuel and water in the oil can be very harmful. So even if you just do a basic $10 test once a year you will get useful info that could prolong your engine. As for the Camry, I'm doing a just-after-purchase sludge flush as a peace-of-mind thing. After that I will do a couple of $10 oil analysis tests to see what's actually going on. At 3K changes I know the TBN is OK.
