3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
When I rebuilt my front end last year, it was kind of a half-assed job, but this year, I'm looking to tear down everything, and rebuild the front end properly.
I've been driving without a bumper reinforcement block, because I jacked my old one up in a collision with a guardrail. I also have a messed up hood and lock assembly, so I've got a list of stuff to replace.
Hood
Hood Lock Assy.
Upper Tie Bar
Radiator Core Support
Front Bumper Arm Right
Front Bumper Arm Left
Bumper Reinforcement Bar Front
Bumper Bracket Front Mounting Right (Outer Extension)
Bumper Bracket Front Mounting Left (Outer Extension)
Bumper Retainer (front)
I'm getting a body kit, any suggestions for something that will be painted black?
Anything else you think I should replace?
Also, what kind of screws (sizes) bolt up all these parts?
Did you wreck your car? Personally, if you're doing what everyone else does, by adding on small performance parts here and there, I wouldn't bother with most of that. But I'm not going to question your motives.
No, it wasn't wrecked. It was damaged slightly, but bad enough that the hood, hood lock, upper reinforcement bar was dented, and I damaged the front bumper reinforcement, extensions, bumper arms, and the upper and lower retainers.
Those might be worth checking actually. I never had them analyzed. Within the last year, I changed transmissions, and the entire front axle, so I should check those too.
But I seriously don't know how to properly remount the bumper on the front of the car, if anyone has a picture of how everything goes, I would seriously appreciate it.
I have a haynes manual, but it barely explains it. It just has a vague blow up of the front end.
Also make sure your tires are evenly pressurized when testing your alignment. If that doesnt completely do the trick, you'll need the a front end alignment too
