LED lights in the tail lights

Just a little bit of knowledge I learned today that I thought I'd share here...

You can buy LED lights for brake and turn signals at most auto stores such as autozone etc.

however, at 18 bucks a pair, two pair, 36 dollars is not neccesarily worth it IMHO.

I bought some, and while they work fine, because LED's use less power and have less resistance, your car will do two things, the brake light (on the dash) will come on every time you use the brakes, and your turn signals will act as though one light is out (blink very fast).

If anyone knows a good cheap way to fix either of these problems, 36 bucks might not be a bad price to pay for LED's, but as far as I know right now it's not worth the money!

4th Generation LED for Tail lights

Are these bulbs ok to use in GEN 4 Camry? I searched on the autozone website and could not find the bulbs. Point me in any directions?

Thanks!

Don't buy LED's from places like that, go to superbrightleds.com and pay way less. Also, they sell load kits which simulate the load of a halogen bulb and will cause your car to act normally with LED's in those locations.

thanks crawlingeye. I'm gonna be returning my LED's to autozone tomorrow and ordering some off of that website as well as the load resistors.

Altarium, i dont know if you can answer this, but if I put the replacement LED turn signal bulbs without attaching load resistors on my camry will that cause any damage?

I use 31-bulbs LED in tail/break lights.
I think there is not any advantage.
Because the brightness is almost the same.
I just wasted my money...

Just the hyper-flashing. Toyota and almost every other auto maker still use flasher control modules that rely on resistance, instead of using electric flashers. You won't necessarily cause damage(you are after all just turing something on and off really fast, but the clicking from the flasher could potentially get worn faster) A load resistor is the easiest fix for hyper-flashing at the bulb. A slightly easier fix would be just to replace the flasher control module under the dash for an electric flasher.
